Comments: Jesse, I'm glad you and Shelly are contiuing to study and play Zimbabwean mbira music on the harp (or mbira, or whatever instuments you find suit it). You are both such talented musicians, and you treat the music you play with such respect for its origins. I'm looking forward to hearing what you come up with in the future.
I had thought in years gone by of creating some sort of stringed instument to play Shona music on. I pictured it like a small handheld harp, with strings organized just like an mbira for easier playing. One of many schemes I've had I suppose, but I never took that particular plunge.
Anyway, just wanted to wish you the best. Very nice site you have here too.

Comments: Hi Jesse, Great website! Just wanted to say that when our Ben Lomond preschool starts to rockin' a bit too much we find there's nothing like the Black Rose CD to settle the energy and inspire creativity in the students...it's wonderful...calming and uplifting at the same time. Thanks for making it happen!!Keep up the fine work!

Comments: Lovely site! I'm a musician in WI, who took to the harp quickly . . . but as a late bloomer. You are lucky to have found your instrument in your teens. I connected with your mom through email / CMN. Very anxious to hear your recordings. Sounds like you have a wonderful musical future. Best wishes!

Comments: Jesse,
I just wanted to tell you again that I loved your playing while you were here at the Harper's Hall Conference. Not only the beauty of your playing but the ease of your manner and the love of the music showed through. The music was tranfixing. I loved that you learn the music from others, that it reiterates how music takes on a greater meaning in our lives than just entertainment, but that it represents the handing down (or over) from others, that which is worthy to keep for our generation and for more to come. These songs you do are about a beautiful tradition that should keep on keepin on.
Thank you again and I hope to catch your next concert!! If your band ever wanted to practice during a weekday afternoon or evening, you would always be welcome up at this beautiful campus as my guest, as long as I can hang around with ya'll and listen!!
Respectfully,
John hicks
